12 team league, here's my team.

OF Vlads
OF Bonds
OF Bay
OF Drew
SS Jeter
3B C. Jones
2B Kent
1B Overbay
C Pudge Rodriguez.

Bench: Winn, Millar, Patterson

SP Zito
SP Clement
SP Maddux
SP Penny
SP Milton
SP Cliff Lee
SP Lawrence

My bullpen is kinda weak, but each team only has 2 active relievers.

RP Mike Adams
RP Madson

With that offense, how can I lose?

Are you sure this is 12 team and not 4? :D

Sure as shit.

Believe me, I was stunned each progressive round when more and more all stars were still available for my choosing.

See if someone bites on Drew based on last year. Grab a closer with him, and plug Patterson into the lineup.

That's what I'm hoping for. Already got a couple feelers thrown out to see where the intereset for him is.

When was your pick that you got Bonds and Vlad?

I'd also see about getting a better 1B, but it's not completely necessary with that offense.

Vlad was my first round pick. Believe it or not, most of the guys in this league hate Bonds enough that they chose not to take him, and he was still there in the 2nd round.

Yeah, I wasn't overly thrilled about taking Overbay, I'm not sure he is gonna duplicate last year's numbers, but I should be able to get by.

BS

No way Bonds lasts into middle of 2nd round in a 12 man league

There is never such a thing as too much offense in fantasy baseball. Never.

Yeah, he did.

Most of the guys were bitching at me in the chat, because they had been talking about no one drafting him.

I didn't care, I mean, I'm playing to win, right?

That is true.

And I would do everything I could to deal Drew and put the potential 30/30 Patterson in the lineup to be sure.

Well I guess that means you won't be dealing him. lol

The drawback to Patterson is that it's a straight points league, and the commish insists on setting it up with K's being -1 for batters. He whiffed 168 times last year.

I still like him better than Drew, but I see your point.

Drew will be hurt again and is playing in a huge homepark, but then again Patterson isn't exactly the picture of health.

Humph, Thome must drop in a league with that variable. Where was he picked?

Teams with the most offence do not always win... It does not matter if yiuo win HRs by 1 or by 50

Balance is the key. I am willing to bet there are teams in that league that are better

Offence is easier to replace the pitching as well. Nobody is going to trade quality pitching, unless they get an overwhelming offer

Yeah and Dunn dropped like a stone I would believe.

I'll bet you lose more often then not with that theory.

I already said it was a straight points league, not H2H. Most points at the end of the season is the winner.

Thome was a 3rd round guy, I believe. Remember, even though he K's a lot, his walks will make up for that quite a bit.

Won 3 out of 4 leagues last year... 1 league I did not win was an experimental bet: I did not draft any decent players, only back ups and crappy starters, and then used waivers to assemble my team: I finished 4th in the league...

I have no problem believing that Bonds dropped to the middle of the second but from what I gather you are saying that walks actually count for something in this league then I find it hard to believe that he did drop that much. He is not a top 10 pick in most leagues because of the walks he adds up along with all this steriod crap going on, but if walks count...you are playing with some suckers.

I'm telling ya, in the chat right before the draft, the guys were trying to get everyone to agree to not draft Bonds. That's a lot of hatred. I mean, who fucking cares? It's fantasy baseball, it's not like he's going to be living in your house.

The way it's set up is HR=4 pts, 3B=3 pts, and so on for hits, a walk, RBI, Run, or IBB is one point, a SB is worth 2 pts, a CS is -1 point, and a K is -1 pt.

Obviously, with the K being a detractor, Bonds and Vlads (power hitters who don't strike out much) were at a premium. I'll never figure out why the guys let pride get in the way of winning when it came to drafting Bonds, but I'm more than happy to be the benefactor of someone else's sour grapes.

I love fucking with the people in the draft chat. Good way to make enemies and spice things up a little more. Had one where they tried to lay down lame rules about the draft like you're not allowed to mention anyone who hasn't been drafted. I kept doing it, the entire night. Oh man, that was good shit.

Yeah, it's surprising what you can accomplish in just the chat. I talked up Carl Crawford in the chat big time before the draft, and someone took him with the 9th pick. Overall. I was totally stunned. Wow, you just took a sub-.800 OPS outfielder in the first round. You can get them after the draft for free.

LOL...those chats are classic. You find out right away who the idiots are. I like the NBA one better though. I always talk up guys and question everyones picks. I'll talk up some guy that is at the same position I want, but not the guy I want. People actually draft some of these guys. It is pretty funny. Bogus rumors you hear go a long way.
