Just watched that game on ESPN classic, what a bunch of trash that game was...Duke could have gone back to back that year if it wasn't for the officiating in that one game. At the very least it probably would have been a great final between Duke and Maryland.

I won't even mention the fact that the calls favored Indiana by a large amount or the fact that it seemed everytime they came down to their side of the court with the ball it ended in a foul being called. Just throw that out for all I care.

Lets just focus on the last thirty seconds in that game. Indiana up two 72-70, duhon knocks the ball away from moye clean slap of the ball, yet the foul is called and Indiana goes up 74-70. Jay Williams makes his three and is fouled, is at the line and misses the free throw, Boozer gets a clean rebound and then is grabbed by two Indiana players as he tries to put up in the game winner.

Yeah, duke gets all the calls...

yeah that duhon steal/foul pissed me off, then my favorite player jwill pulls the three and the foul, only to miss the free throw, boozer should have had the stick back, was a terrible way for the both of them to go out

should we also throw out the fact the refs handed them the notre dame game before that? was the slap of the ball upward or downward? if it's downward you have no gripe, they're gonna call it 9/10 times regardless of if it's clean or not. thirdly, see villanova-wvu for the reason the foul on boozer shouldn't be called. williams should have made the FT, the refs were kind enough to put him there.

So basically you can do whatever you want to someone in the final seconds of a game and don't have to worry about being called.

Remember the 2001 Semi-finals and finals?

I don't remember this game, but if it was as bad as you say it was, all I can say is karma.

It's the 1947 finals I still can't get over. Assholes stole the game.

I feel the same way about the 2005 finals.

What were you watching ... the entire nation sympathized with Holy Cross just because they didn't have a gym.

Sooners got mauled early in the second half and the officiating never let them up for air.

The whole religion angle that year put a cloud over the whole of Collegiate Athletics. I was so pissed I didn't watch ANY college hoops for years after that.

Your loss there. You missed a hell of a game in 1953.

Indiana just squeeked by Kansas in the closing seconds.

Plus, I did sneak a peek at the 8mm film after it was developed later that spring.

only time a foul should be called in the final 20 seconds of a 1 possession game is if a guy is going to the basket and gets absolutely hammered. other than that the refs need to stuff the whistle in their pocket and let the 10 kids on the court decide the game.

Listening to Dook people complain about bad officiating is like listening to Yankees fans complaining about not having enough money in the budget for Carlos Beltran.
