Not to mention the foul called FOR Duke when Reddick threw his defender out of the way for the ball a few plays earlier...

Allowing his other arm to easily tip the ball in. Not that they would have tied it up, but when someone gets good position on you for a rebound, you can't just shove the guy out of the way. Unless you're Duke.

Shelden didn't have any position. His guy had him on his back, Shelden pushed him forward. When you push someone, its a foul. I realize that the game is more physical, and especially in the last few moments in a game, but just b/c one guy is stronger than the other doesn't mean he should be allowed to push his man out of the way.
That said, that big white dude was weak, there is no way you should get shoved around by a smaller guy.
I'm no Duke hater, they always play a smart game and play great D. But, that was a foul.

i didnt see his hands go outstretch at all and push him, he simply jumped and tipped the ball in, same thing happens on almost every rebound, players bump and lean to get position and box out, no ref would ever call that a foul in that situation

I remember those games pretty well, and while the officiating surely wasn't stellar, I also remember Duke wasn't playing their kind of basketball either. In both instances Duke was outplayed, and the officiating really played a small role. I'm going purely off of memory here though, but I'm pretty sure that's how it went down. I remember specifically last year I believe thinking "wow...Duke is being completely taken out of their game".

I could also say calhoun has the refs as a 6th man because of last years final four game, or that gary williams does because of a game earlier this year, but i find that shit stupid to claim because refs call games, they arent perfect calls go in favor of each team, sometimes refs call it tight which effect the way a team plays because they play a physical game which results in more fouls called

UConn's front court: 4- Boone, 5- Okafor. The main backup for them was Villanueva, with Hilton Armstrong being the 2nd backup. Duke's frontcourt was 4- Deng, 5- Williams. Main backup was Randolph, with Horvath as the 2nd backup. Take away Okafor from UConn and Williams and Randolph from Duke and you have 4- Villanueva, 5- Boone against 4- Deng, 5- Horvath. Thats about equal. So Okafor's absence definitely hurt UConn more.
