From your favorite team (this year's squad) and replace him with a player from your team's past...who would it be and why?
For the Vikings...I would choose Joey Browner to replace Brian Russell.
Not that Russell doesn't do a good job...but no one played like Browner did..this guy was a force...we already have one of the best tackling secondaries in football with Winfield and B-Will...imagine it with this guy.
Paul Krause and Carl Eller get honorable mention.

That's an easy one for me.
Reggie White. And I don't care who you replace.
Just a monster in the pass rush and equally tough against the run. Couple that with his leadership on defense and the ability to step up in key situations to force bad throws, a sack, whatever.
The total package.

Wow, let's see...I'd got two options, if it has to be starters removed, thas one thing...if i can take out backups it'd be dif.
Starters:
option a) replace Pinkston w/maybe Irving Fryar. That guy just knew how to catch a football. Plus he was a heck of a leader when we had him
option b) replace Burgess w/Reggie White. A no-brainer, White was one of the BEST Eagles ever...maybe the best. Once again, an awesome leader.
Backups:
Option A)i take out Billy McMullin instead
Option B)i take out Jerome McDougle

Butler. Even after Reggie, the Defense played well with Butler in there.

LMAO....someone gave me negative rep points for this being being "an unoriginal idea"...
OK...everyone remember that...anytime you see someone give what is in your opinion an unoriginal thought...give them negative rep points....
NO unoriginal thinking will be allowed here at Sports-Boards
BTW - Sully...could we get a list of what is original thought and what isn't...so there is no confusion?

The easy pick is Barry over Kevin Jones, because Barry was better than everyone.
Can I take In-his-prime Robert Porcher over The Human Hernia, Kalimba Edwards?
I'd probably take Bennie Blades at strong safety over Bracey Touchdown Walker, just because he was one of the most feared hitters over the middle in the NFL during his career. He'd make Randy Moss hear footsteps.
I could have any ONE player from the Dolphin's past, in his prime???
Gee, I might have to think about this one for a while...or NOT! :)
Bye bye Jay Fiedler, hello Dan Marino.
Now, can I do the same thing with the coaches too??? :(

I would have to go with Reggie White. He could probably still get a better pass rush than our line does right now. Oh, and the player to drop.... Bowah Jue. And drop him flat on his face please.

this is easy for me...ooooo wait no it's not
the player from past who i'd think most help???
or the player i most would like to see???
i'd have to go with page since vikes could use him.....
or even chris doleman, or eller or jim marshall, or any of the other phenomal d lineman in vikes past

Seth Joyner over Nate Wayne.
is there something you don't like about Nate Wayne? He's a good player.
For GB on offense, at this point, I would take either Coffman or Chumura back. This offense used is more effective with a guy that can get open between the red zones and run after catch. On D, I would have to go with Reggie.

Id like to replace Marcus Robinson with Cris Carter (in his prime)...i don't think a defense would have a chance.... The WR in 2nd place in TD recpetions.... and the Best Active Reciever in football.... I could be playing defense for the vikings, and we would win games...
EDIT: on second thought.... It would Be Korey Stringer for Rosenthal..... McKinnie and STringer would be the Best book end Tackles in the league by now.... Plus Big K was a huge leader in the vikings organization

well, we could move Barnett to weak side, put navies on the bench, get rid of BJ sander, and put Ray Nitschke back in the middle, boy I would love to have actually seen him play. we could use someone with teeth missing on defense:D , he was a monster.

Well since I don't have a favorite team anymore since that bitch up and moved them to st. louis I'll fill in some of the teams mentioned with my own thoughts.
Miami- ofcourse it has to be Dan
Minnesota- Carter or Rashad
Philly- Carmichael or montgomery
GB- Sterling sharpe or Brooks (Farve loved them)
Denver-Elway ofcourse
Titans-Cambell(remember they are the houston franchise)
Raiders- Cliff Branch
Bills-Kelly
Giants-LT
SD-Fouts
Ravens-(formerly cleve) Kosar
Det-Barry ofcourse
Chicago-Payton
Wash- young Darryl green
just to name a few

Thing is, you guys actually had that back in 1998, and yeah, you were pretty much unstoppable.
For a while, anyway...

Well, he's great to have on Monday Night Football. Otherwise, he's kind of painful to watch. I'm not going to say that he's the next Barry Gardner, but he needs to have some good games on Sunday afternoons, too.

I'd give the Chiefs Derrick Thomas.

Funny..even the Broncos fans are getting into it even though it was a Broncos fan that gave me the negative rep...must be something personal.

Hey it must have been one of them that got into with everyone over this last weekend. do not hold that against all of us. afterall I don't hold things against all vikes fans for certain things done towards me. cool

Of course, as an Eagle fan, I'd want to drop TO and bring back Torrance Small.
How about dropping Westbrook for Darnell Autry? THAT would be awesome!

Not that there is anything wrong with Corey Simon or Darwin, I don't even know which one I would replace, but I'd love to see #99 out there.

for the Falcons, any Offensive lineman that can block better than the scrubs we have now.

Im talking Carter in his prime.... Carter then was still damn good...but he wasn't at his best..... that would be crazy though...both of those just destroying secondaries...there wouldn't be a team in the league who could match up

Even though some GB fans tried to claim him, a defensive line of Kearse, R.White, Cory Simon, and Mcdougle/Douglas would be incredible to watch.

The reason R. White would come back as a Packer is we were able to get him his ring.. unlike the eagles.. sorry it is true. :)
just bustin your balls.. Tell you the truth with the Dline that the pack has right now i would be willing to split R. White with you play the first have for the eagles fly in for the 2nd half for the pack.. and seeing the way the freek was comming around the end lst week you guys don't need him as much as we do.

I dunno, complaining about an unoriginal thought doesn't strike me as being that original ... of course complaining about complaining about an unoriginal thought ...
I've got to go with Reggie White. While Butler would be a close 2nd for me, the pass rush of White and KGB with Hunt and Jackson in the middle would make what is currenlty a weakness on the Packers a strength.

Yep, thats pretty much a no brainer for a Lions fan....
It would have to be Barry Sanders
Although, I always loved Bubba Baker, and wouldnt mind seeing him replace any defensive end on the team.

For Green Bay it has to be Butler, he was and always will be my favorite. Hasn't been the same for the secondary since he left. Leadership wise.

I would replace Joe Odom with Dick Butkus giving us a LB combo of Urlacher, Butkus and Briggs.....not too shabby.

Yeah..you can see who does...it was just someone being a bitch.
Kinda crappy that people will give negative rep points just because they don't like you, but it was only 3 or 4 points so I'm not worried.

This is easy:
Dan Marino over Fiedler/Feeley
The only qb ever who could win 148 games without a running game that never finished in the top half of the league!
