Chiefs | Still Discussing Surtain Trade With Miami - from www.KFFL.com (http://www.kffl.com/)
Tue, 8 Mar 2005 20:31:08 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs president Carl Peterson hinted the Chiefs (http://www.kffl.com/team/21/nfl) are still working on a deal with the Miami Dolphins (http://www.kffl.com/team/22/nfl) to acquire CB Patrick Surtain (http://www.kffl.com/player/1017/nfl), reports KCChiefs.com. "That door is certainly open," Peterson said. "It is as much with Miami as it is with his agent, if we can get to some kind of contract that makes sense. I think that is a difficult thing to do, but it is something we still have on the table. They are still talking to us and want to continue to talk to us because I think Patrick would like to leave Miami."

I think miami would consider a deal for larry johnson, but that probably wouldn't happen because you already let go of blaylock. We would be more than happy to take your first rounder off your hands and maybe a 2nd to go with it.

How long does it take for the Chiefs to get this done? Give em a damn pick that they want and let's get Surtain in here. It's not that hard.

I dont see the chiefs giving up Larry Johnson because hes the future of this team. Priest, as much as i love him, is injury prone. He should step back and take a semi-secondary role as the chiefs running back. Spliting carries with Larry Johnson to 1) keep him healthy 2) add a change of pace 3) confuse and scare the defense when they realize the chiefs offense can destory them with 2 different running backs, with 2 completely different styles and there is nothing they can do about it. Just give Miami a second rounder and be done with it.
