I would be giving up Schmidt, Crawford, Kent, and Hoffman for Sheffield, Wagner, Russ Ortiz, and Colon/Buehrle.

The rest of my team looks like this

C: Charles Johnson
1B: Helton
2B: Kent (as of now)
SS: JRoll
3B: Polanco
OF: Crawford (as of now)
OF: Patterson
OF: Pods
Util: C. Guillen
Bench: Youkilis
Bench: R. Sanders

SP: Schmidt (as of now)
SP: Thomson
SP: Rogers
SP: Ho-Ram
SP: Myers
RP: Hoffman (as of now)
RP: Madson
RP: Wickman
RP: Ayala
Bench: Westbrook
Bench: Odalis Perez

Is this trade fair and will it help my team or hurt it?

No way in hell would I do that deal. Schmidt is a top of the line starter. Crawford is a solid hitter and a SB hog. Kent probably will bat 4th in LA (plus you'd have no 2B to replace him), and the difference between Hoffman and Wagner isn't as big as one might think.

Sheffield is solid, but Russ Ortiz is garbage, while Colon and Buerhle are mediocre at best.

If I were you I might look into improving your pitching, but not with this deal at all. Looking at your team I'd see if I could get a mediocre pitcher for Posednik straight up or a middle of the road closer.

If that doesn't work then I'd consider dealing Crawford next as a lot of people are high on him. Also Carlos Guillen is coming off a torn ACL and how he responds is in question. Maybe you can deal him based on last year's numbers and get some more pitching that way.

There's a good chance Charles Johnson won't be playing everyday so you'll need to upgrade at catcher.

Look for Olivo in Seattle or Buck in KC if you can't find or deal for anyone else. They are young catchers that should see the bulk of the workload.
