I traded Matt Morris and Michael Young for Jeff Weaver and Bret Boone. I already have Derek Jeter and my 2nd baseman isn't too solid, so that's why I went for Jeff Weaver and Brett Boone. Am I getting a good deal?

I would have put in Jeter instead of Young.
But overall, it's not that bad of a deal.

I just don't see Michael Young having a good a season as he did last year. He is a great player, he will probably have a good however I don't think he will do as well as last year. And last year Jeter sucked at the beginning, and he still ended up doing good. He is a Yankee and you know he will produce in that lineup. I just wasn't sure if Boone would bounce back from last year.

Boone will probably bounce back with Sexson and Tre, and get some RBIs with that stacked lineup.

I wouldn't have done it.
Morris wasn't very good last year, but he's still much better than Weaver and on the better team, thus getting more W's.
Michael Young is in a tremendous lineup and will continue to play at a high level. He's never really talked about, but him and Jeter these days are close to a wash.
Boone is on a decline, but who knows maybe his numbers spike a little with Sexson and Beltre aboard.
Overall not a terrible deal, but I wouldn't have done it.

Matt Morris is just coming off of rotator cuff surgery. Weaver always seemed to me like he had flashes of brilliance, then other times he would just suck. I don't think that the Cardinals will be as good and dominant as they were last year. I guess time will tell on this deal

I guess since you had a need at 2B it wasn't bad.
But I'd still rather have Morris than Weaver and that's not saying a whole lot.
Having Weaver on your fantasy team will drive you nuts.
Kinda like Freddy Garcia, but with not as many quality outtings.

You said you were weak at second. Who did you have, and did you try to get any other 2B?
Who is on the wire?
J/C what your options were.

I had Ray Durham. He is always injured. I would have used one of my stellar SS at the Utility spot, however it is occupied by Derek Lee. My starting 1B is Albert Pujols. I tried to get my man Marcus. Most of the other teams with good 2B didn't have any other players that I needed or wanted. So I settled with Boone thinking he might have a comeback year with Beltre and Sexson. The best 2B on waivers is Placido Polanco who isn't even going to start if I am not mistaken. So there is not much out there.

I appreciate the avatar. I had this picture on my desktop a while back. That and when Marcus ran over Mark Prior a few years back at Wrigley.

So do you still have Durham?
Keep on eye on Polanco b/c if he's in the right position, he's underrated.
And as far as dealing for Giles, maybe a quick start will make the owner of him become more interested in a straight up deal for Boone.
Unless of course you're playing him and want more.
I, too, like Giles, but I have Soriano in my keeper league.
Maybe in my other leagues I'll be lucky to get him.

I asked Kinja Kahn what he was using, but I don't have $500 sitting around right now, and the wife didn't give me my allowance. lol
Just fucking with you anyways.
I figured you were either bored or whoring for rep, or both.
Didn't mean to ruin your party.

Yea, I still have Durham. Hopefully I can make a package deal and get Marcus eventually.
Here is the rest of the team I drafted:
C-Mauer
1B- Pujols, Lee
2B- Boone, Durham
3B- Koskie
SS- Jeter
OF-Cabrera, Rowand, Finley, Winn, J.Jones
SP- O.Perez, Pavano, Clement, Radke, Leiter, Colon, Weaver, Eaton
RP- Lidge I need one more closer. I can hopefully make a deal before the season starts

Now, I just gotta work on the Pitching. I have a few guys who are borderline- Radke, Leiter, Colon, Weaver

Well I'd also look to see who's out there at 3B.
That is a very deep position with at least average guys probably still available in your league.
I know Durham is hurt all the time, and I predict he'll end up being your first drop for an unknown closer, or maybe another OFer, Polanco (2b/3B, and maybe SS by the end of the year) or a 3B.

I really have no basis for this, but those guys aren't that bad at all.
Yes they can give you headaches. Weaver definitely will, and Leiter is getting up in age.
However I think Radke will be fine, Colon will bounce back, and Leiter and Weaver are both in big ballparks.

There is someone that might be out there for you that could be a total sleeper, but I can who he is here.
If you want to know who I think MIGHT be the sleeper, PM me.
I don't want my "buddies" finding out in case I need this guy late in the draft. lol

lol
Take it for what it's worth. That's why they're called sleepers. Some unfortunately stay sleeping.
