Any Jon Garland fans out there? I've been waiting for this guy to turn the corner for about 4 years now. I've seen him look really good, but he's too inconsistent, and that ERA would make him feel at home on the Angels squad.

I've always liked him, but like you said, too inconsistent. Hopefully being in the fifth spot in the rotation will ease some of his nerves.

Clean cut white boy who needs a little something called "spunk"...Seeing that we got him from the Cubs, I expected very little from him from the get-go...So to me, he's a great success...Perception is everything though...

I'm biased. My son went to the same high school, and played ball there two years after Garland, so Jon is something of a local hero. Garrett Anderson went to the same school. GA attended an alumni game here a few years ago. It was a blast to see him go down swinging on a curveball that might have been moving 55 miles an hour.

I like a few others as well:
Ismael Valdes, Florida
Jaret Wright, NYY
Wade Miller/Bronson Arroyo, Boston
Glendon Rusch, Cubs
Pete Munro, Houston
Jeff Suppan, Cardinals
Notice something about them all? Playoff contenders... 4/6 in playoffs last year...Other 2 pretty darn good...record wise, at least...The Cubs actually "being good" is something I refuse to accept as "reality" though...
Of course, this is also because these teams (exception: Marlins) spend a lot of money...well whattaya know....

A good list, except I. Valdes, a wimp and a crybaby if ever I've seen one. He whimpered when he was in LA, and hasn't stopped since.

But who know, Garland could be this year's Drew Brees and turn into a 20 game winner....Stranger things have happened.
