Studes and Mike Carminati have tag teamed on an amazing set of articles looking at the most lopsided trades in history (http://www.all-baseball.com/mikesbballrants/archives/017353.html) and the teams that got snookered the most (http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/the-best-and-worst-teams-of-the-trade/). And, yes, as I'm sure you're all thinking right now, the Mets have indeed got taken to school more than any other team in history -- by a gargantuan margin.
One of the most amazing things about this is that, if you look at Mike's article, the Mets only had one trade in the top twenty: Nolan Ryan and company for Jim Fregosi, which came in at #6. There are a couple more that would certainly make the top fifty, but the Mets really kill themselves with volume; they've made more trades, good and bad, than any franchise since 1961. This really speaks volumes to how the Mets have evaluated talent over the years. And to think, we haven't even begun to evaluate the Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano trade yet!
Anyway, check them both out -- it really does confirm what every Mets fan has subconsciously known his or her entire lifetime...only now we have data to back it up.
