so we've got reyes, matsui, and beltran at the top of the order those three are gonna give you 30 stolen bases each of they play a full season. and dont forget wright has some speed too. i almost forgot cameron, another 30 SB guy.
lets take advantage of this.

I agree...I said a bunch of times last season that Reyes and Matsui were killers because of their speed. They were bad enough, and now you add Beltran to the mix. That's a ton of speed and speed is something that never slumps.

Yep 5 guys with 25-30 steal potential with reyes and Beltran possibly over 40.
Reyes
Kaz
Cammy
Beltran
Wright
and Floyd, when healthy isnt slow either.

Umm... You guys do have a lot of speed but I think you're over-exaggerating.
- Kaz had 14 steals last year.
- Cameron had 22. If he can get on base more he could steal more, but is that going to happen?
- Reyes has 32 career steals, but is OBP and AVG have dropped a good amount. He's going to have to bring those up if he wants to use his speed.
- Floyd has speed, but he's also getting older. I wouldn't expect too many SBs out of him. Maybe around 10-15 at most.
- Wright had 6 SBs in about half a season last year.
- Beltran, well I'll give you that.
Ok, obviously you guys have a lot of speed, but I really don't think you have 5 guys with a legitimate shot to steal 25-30 bases. Also, Reyes has never stolen over 20 (granted he hasn't played a full season). I just don't know if 40 is too lofty of an expectation. Physically, he can probably do it, but I still don't know if it will happen.
So, I say Reyes and Beltran will definitely have over 25-30 steals if they both stay healthy. Cameron will be in that range, maybe higher, if he can get on base. I don't see the other guys sniffing that range though.

Beltran's steals are sure to go down some if he's batting third, but yes if Reyes and Cammy can stay healthy, along with Matsui and Beltran.....that's a ton of speed in this day and age.

Kaz had 14 despite missing a lot of games and getting used to American pitching. In japan they dont use splitters at all. Its mainly fastball change and its a different style of play. If you seen his speed you know he could take 30 now thats hes had a chance to adopt to the american game.
Reyes was 18/18 (50ish games) in the dominican league and looks to be healthy finally. Anyone whos seen him play knows he can fly. He had 14 in 50-something games on 1 leg last year. The hammy is fine now :)
Cameron has always been a 20-30 sb guy. hes hit 30+ a few times. No reason he couldnt do it again. I dont expect 30 hrs again; that was a fluke imo.
Beltran always stole 30+ hitting 3rd in KC. Why would that slip?
Wright I know only stole 6 but in the minors he showed the ability to to take 20 plus in way less games. 30 is a possibility. Think Howard Johnson with rolen style average and D.
Floyd...All expect is 10-15 since thats all hes usually healthy enough to contribute.

I dont think wright is that good defensively. he had 11 errors in 65 games last season. In a full season it will probably be over 20! I dunno, maybe he was just getting used to the game but we will see this season. Hope he gets real good D...Rolen style!

Floyd...All expect is 10-15 since thats all hes usually healthy enough to contribute.as for Floyd, I wouldnt want him to steal anyways when hes actually healthy for chances that he'll injure himself. ANyways he does have speed but hes always got some nagging injury and most of the times hes limping around. I really would love to see him healthy though.
there is no question reyes has speed. once he has a full season, hes gonna be a superstar.
previous matsui scouting reports has said that he is just as fast as ichiro or even faster, but as you may know a lot of stuff from his scourting report has been dead wrong. however he is bound to have a better season this year.
yeah i dont expect cameron to hit 30 again ( a career high at shea a pitchers park), which might lead onto a lot of bashing towards him.
beltran no question one of the top baserunners in the game. if reyes or matsui gets injured, and wright is putting up big numbers, then we have the option of batting him 2nd just like what the royals sometimes did.

wright didnt play in so many games last year so i wouldnt seriously take that into consideration, but yeah hes been stated to be the next rolen numerous times.

The Mets team needs to be fast so they can run on the field and protect Pedro everytime he plunks somebody. First team on the field has the advantage.
