Typically, Timberwolves VP Kevin McHale declines to address the swirls of trade rumors circulating around his team. Thursday he made one exception. Every day, McHale said, he calls the Heat and asks if they would trade him Shaquille O'Neal. For a second-round draft pick. "Surprisingly enough, they don't do it," McHale said. "I'm shocked every day." His point was essentially this: There is no way to force a team's hand into making a deal before the trade deadline -- to "bend some guy's arm," as McHale put it, into taking commodities such as aging and injured Sam Cassell or expensive and inconsistent Latrell Sprewell.
