Kansas City Royals re-sign 2B Ruben Gotay (http://www.baseball-reference.com/g/gotayru01.shtml), SS Andres Blanco (http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/blancan01.shtml), 3B Mark Teahen and RHP Brian Bass (1Y).
Teahen and Gotay probably should be playing now, but they’ll get some time at AAA while the Royals run Chris Truby (http://www.baseball-reference.com/t/trubych01.shtml) and Tony Graffanino (http://www.baseball-reference.com/g/graffto01.shtml) out. Blanco will be there, too, but with Angel Berroa (http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/berroan01.shtml) blocking him, he may find himself traded.

In my opinion, I think that Andres Blanco should be traded. He's got this reputation as being a defensive wiz, yet lagging behind with the bat. However, he did comitt 21 errors in 93 games at SS for the Wranglers in 2004, and 4 more in 19 games with the Royals. Berroa isn't proving to be a defensive wizard, either, but at least he can swing the bat a little. When I think of Andres Blanco, I think Rey Sanchez. I don't know about you all, but I don't get excited about Rey Sanchez. The Royals have middle infield prospects coming up at 2B, so that spot is nailed down for the future. They've got Gotay and Murphy in the immediate future, so there's no real need to switch no hit Blanco to 2B just for his "defense".
I'd like to see Teahen in the lineup from day one, and I think there's a good chance that will happen. The Royals just didn't want to put all of their eggs in Teahen's basket and then have him struggle. Then we'd be looking at some scrub at 3B. Truby may prove to be a scrub, but he did put up some nice AAA numbers last year.

If Teahen isn't on the team on Opening Day, I would definitely expect him in KC by the middle of May or early June.
Bass was set back by some injuries last season, but the Royals were impressed with him in mini-camp. So much so, that he's being mentioned as a darkhorse candidate to make the rotation. I don't expect that to happen unless there are some injuries (don't rule that out with the Royals). I'd expect to see Brian in Omaha (same with Bautista).

Well he's still here and sucking pretty badly. I hope he gets rookie of the year.
