Feb. 10 - Javier Vazquez, acquired from the Yankees in the Randy Johnson trade, has the option to demand a trade after this season because he was dealt during a multiyear contract, the Arizona Republic reports. He becomes a free agent if the Diamondbacks can't broker a deal for him, but he would lose out on the final two years of a contract worth $24 million.
"They're doing their best to have a good team," Vazquez told ESPN. "They've signed some good players. But it's too early for me to say what I'm going to do at the end of the year. I have to honor my contract and play there, and at the end of the season, we'll explore our options."
