The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced their television broadcast schedule for the 2005 season. FOX Sports Net Pittsburgh will broadcast 120 regular season games, including 54 home dates and 66 road dates, beginning with the season opener against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, April 4 at 1:35 p.m.
FSN Pittsburgh will also televise 11 of the Pirates 12 interleague games against Baltimore, Tampa Bay, New York and Boston. During the month of June, the Bucs will visit Yankee Stadium for the first time since the 1960 World Series (June 14-16) and they will play the Red Sox in Boston for the first time since the 1903 World Series (June 17-19). All six of those match-ups will be televised by FSN Pittsburgh.
In addition, three spring training games will be televised on FOX Sports Net Pittsburgh. The network will carry the March 14 game against the Yankees at 7:15 p.m. in Tampa, the March 20 home game against the World Champion Boston Red Sox at 1:05 p.m. and the March 26 tilt against the Philadelphia Phillies at McKechnie Field.
The broadcasting team of Lanny Frattare, Steve Blass, Greg Brown and Bob Walk returns for its twelfth consecutive season of bringing home the action to all Pirates fans. Frattare and Brown will handle the play-by-play duties and Blass and Walk will serve as color analysts. The 2005 season marks Frattare's 30th as a radio/TV broadcaster with the Pirates. Beginning this year, Blass will be on hand to provide analysis for home games only. The Pirates will make an announcement regarding the new road game color analyst in the near future.
