Looks like Lankford will be gone with the addition of Walker and Gall & Narveson are the two minor leaguers being sent in the deal. I feel bad for Ray, but what a great move Walt pulled off out of the blue! What do you guys think?

I don't feel bad for Ray. I did the first time he was traded, but he wasn't even suppose to make the team going into Spring Training. Ray may land on his feet somewhere, but I have a hard time it'll be on a playoff-bound team and, if it is, it'll be in a supporting role only. Ray ain't good enough anymore to be a fulltime player. If her was, we wouldn't have traded for Walker.

hate to see gall and narv go but to get walker and try to get the world series this year it is prob worth it. I am also thrilled to here that my guy ankiel is pitching well in his rehab.

There is still some hope that Narveson will not be one of thr PTBNL. Its probable that he will be one, but I hope he is not. He has been pitching lights out in AA lately, this guy if he stays could help us out a lot in the future while I dont think he will be able to help the Rockies in Coors.

Of what I've heard, Ray was contemplating retirement even before the acquisition of Walker. I think the emergence of Cedeno and Taguchi pushed him out of the lineup before Walker.

I just hate dealing Gall. He should've gotten a chance by now. Hopefully he turns into a nice ballplayer in Coors. I hope so, because he's on the bench in my keeper league

I hate dealing Gall also but I hate even more dealing Narveson. Gall was never going to get a chance with us anyway so I think this could be the best for him but I do think that Narveson could have turned into a #2-#3 type of pitcher for us. And having a lefty in your rotation is always nice. I guess Walt knew what he was doing; lets hope Larry makes us forget about these 2.

I wish Ray would take the assignment, get called up in Sept. and enjoy the ride, at least part of it.

agree completely with ryr on this one... let him be here and if someone (i hope no one) goes down then he's there for us when we need him. i'd like to get ray a ring too.

I don't mind seeing Gall in the trade (if that's who is part of the deal). He wasn't good enough defensively to warrant a starting job in the outfield next year. He is a natural first baseman, but we know that path is blocked for a few more years. And he's to the point in his career age-wise where he had better be in the show next year or two years from now (at the very latest) to not start being considered a career minor leaguer.
Face it Gall fans, his future with the Cardinals was as a platoon/utility type player. He's worth more in a trade than he is on the field for us.

Somewhere around 15, hopefully.

I'm definitely a Gall fan but I do realize that he was not going to have a spot in this team with the way Mabry and Cedeno have been playing(And he was obviously not going to replace Sanders). I know we will see big numbers from him if he's given the chance in Colorado just because of the park he's going to be playing in.
I'm alright with Gall going since we got another OF in Walker(And what an Of-er!) but I'm a little bothered with Narveson going. Oh well, Good luck to them both.

I do think Ray got screwed a little bit by Tony. It's been hard to find playing time lately with Mabry and Cedeno playing like All-Stars, but Ray got benched at the hint of a slump while Reggie Sanders was allowed to play for an entire month where he was the worst player in baseball, and his OBP is still very poor.
I'd rather see Ray on the roster than Taguchi, but maybe that's just me.

It's not just you. I'd rather see Ray over Taguchi AND Anderson.

Taguchi's value as a defensive replacement is bound to have dwindled with the acquisition of Walker. 2 gold gloves in the OF, and Sanders isn't that bad.
But Taguchi has been hitting. I think Marlon's still living off that game winning homer he hit a few months ago, or maybe he hit 2, I don't remember. What's Anderson batting now, about .220?

Anderson is now hitting .224.
Among those who have a base hit this year he leads Bo Hart, Matt Morris, and Cris Carpenter. Everyone else is ahead of him, including 4 pitchers.
