Tim Salmon
Angels
What - Health
Feb. 7 - Tim Salmon is recovering from knee and shoulder surgery and likely will miss most, if not all, of the 2005 season, the Orange Country Register reports. Salmon has one year left on his contract and hopes to play again, but is uncertain of his future.
"I'm just hoping they [doctors] can give me a schedule," Salmon told the newspaper. "I want to get the cardio built up again, then figure out when I can swing the bat again. I really have no idea whether it's going to be the All-Star break, August, September or whenever. That's one of the tough things about it."
If he can't impress anyone this summer and fall, he might consider signing with another team next spring. "That's what I'd have to think about," said Salmon. "I haven't played for anyone else but the Angels. But I've seen Troy Percival go elsewhere [to Detroit]. I have to be realistic. If I don't play this year, then I'll be a 37-year-old guy who hasn't played for a year and a half, coming off rotator cuff surgery."
