Robb Quinlan (http://bigleaguers.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/7192/) avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract with Anaheim. Financial terms for the deal were not disclosed. The 28-year old hit .344 with five home runs and 23 RBI in 66 games for the Angels last year. His season was ended on August 17 when he tore his left oblique muscle in batting practice. From July 7 to August 10 he had a 21-game hitting streak, the fifth longest such streak in franchise history.

Quinlan is penciled in to be the Angels' designated hitter and the primary backup to rookie third baseman Dallas McPherson (http://bigleaguers.yahoo.com/mlbpa/players/7353/). If McPherson can't handle the hot corner then Quinlan may be moved there on a permanent basis during the season.

RQ was hot last year until he got hurt. I'm looking forward to seeing him again this year. True, his D is a little shaky, but that can be cured by hard work.
