Mike Cameron is still unhappy. And while the proposed trade with Colorado for Preston Wilson (http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/nym/news/nym_news.jsp?ymd=20050201&content_id=937769&vkey=news_nym&fext=.jsp) is dead, it seems that the Mets are going to continue making inquiries in light of his recent comments (http://www.nypost.com/sports/mets/39701.htm) that he "still sees himself as a center fielder."
Honestly with his limited no trade clause, I really don't see Cammy going anywhere and, even though he would be better off in center field, he's going to start in right.
• While Newsday reports that the Mets are interested in Magglio Ordonez (http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-spbase024132448feb02,0,3383834.story?coll=ny-mets-print), the Daily News reports that the Mets aren't planning to attend his workout (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/story/277099p-237383c.html) later this week. Stay tuned...
• Jon Heyman has his offseason report card (http://www.newsday.com/sports/columnists/ny-sphey024132447feb02,0,353066.column?coll=ny-sports-columnists) with lots of nice things to say about the Mets and some amusing ones to say about other teams. To wit:
Dodgers. Could not have done worse if they tried. They made so many bad moves. But the one that makes sense was to hire Charley Steiner, who will never utter a discouraging word no matter how bad things get. Grade: F-
Bashing Yankee announcers (or former announcers) would be an Olympic Sport along the lines of archery if it wasn't so easy to nail your target.
• Right now, Vegas gives the Mets 20-1 odds to win the pennant (http://www.nj.com/mets/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-1/1107324949194630.xml). The Marlins, with Carlos Delgado, are given 10-1. Sometimes it's nice to be the underdog; they like to surprise.
