Feb. 2 - According to the N.Y. Post, reports of a deal proposal by the Rockies – Preston Wilson to the Mets for Mike Cameron – were "bogus," and the Mets not actively shopping Cameron, who is still irked about moving to right field to make room for Carlos Beltran.
Cameron considers himself a center fielder and likely would welcome a trade to a contending club in need of a center fielder. But he isn't too concerned about trade discussions.
"As soon as Feb. 21 rolls around, I'm going to do baseball-related things that I've always done whether it's here, Pakistan, whatever," Cameron told the newspaper. "I'm going to get ready to go play baseball."
Cameron is expected to miss the start of the season after having offseason surgery to repair a torn tendon in his left wrist. He is owed $14 million over the next two years.
