i think unless he wil take a deal where he averages no more than 8.5 mil per yr over the course of the deal...we need to let him walk.
he is not worth 10 mil per yr or more
we can fill his void with another starter who is good

I don't agree. His defensive ability alone is worth the money. Plus, you have to realize that he is just now hitting his prime when looking at his age.
Let Morris and Williams walk. If we lost Renteria it could come back to bite us IMO.

i personally think if we don't resign renteria we will sign nomar or cabrera. gut says we keep edgar.
doesnt mean i'm right, but where else are we goign to put the money? Pedro? A different starter to replace morris? I sure wouldnt resign matt at this point. Bullpen? possibly could go after a couple power arms in front of izzy with king and another lefty as dual lefties.
Only other possibilities i see are left field or second base, where sanders would be a pretty decent bench bat and/or womack would be gone.
That said, that's about all the further i'm going to think about this subject until november 1st (when the season is over). Some theories are great and looking ahead to next year is fun sometimes, but i want to enjoy this year, it may not ever happen again in my lifetime (i'm 26).

I think Morris and Williams walking is a given. I'd hope so, unless Matt wants to sign for <6 million. I bet he wishes he'd have taken the Cardinals earlier offer.

I think Luna would make a good 2B. Sign him cheap now and plug him in after this season. He's got a good bat and his defense is improving.
