Interested - Mets, Nationals, Orioles

Jan. 28 - Sammy Sosa's camp is starting to make noise, perhaps in an attempt to drum up business, The Chicago Tribune reports.

"I think he will be traded, and I think Sammy will be one of the best pickups of the entire off-season," agent Tom Reich told The Sporting News, as reported by The Tribune. "He deserves better than this. He's determined, absolutely determined, determined to remind people he has a lot of productive time left."

According to the Arlington Heights Daily Herald, Cubs GM Jim Hendry has been fielding calls about his right fielder. "Cubs insiders," the Daily Herald reports, say the Orioles and the Nationals have made recent inquiries about the slugger.

The Washington Post earlier this week reported that the Orioles are discussing the option of making a trade for Sosa.

"You never know," a team source told The Post. "It's still something that's ongoing. We've had discussions."

ESPN's Jayson Stark says it's still unlikely the Mets will trade for Sosa. Mets ownership has told GM Omar Minaya to hold off on a Sosa deal after losing Delgado to Florida.
