Sammy Sosa

Interested - Mets, Nationals, Orioles

Jan. 27 - After losing out on free-agent first baseman Carlos Delgado, the Orioles are discussing the option of making a trade for Cubs right fielder Sammy Sosa, The Washington Post reports.

"You never know," a team source told The Post. "It's still something that's ongoing. We've had discussions."

According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, it's still unlikely the Mets will trade for Sosa. Mets ownership has told GM Omar Minaya to hold off on a Sosa deal after losing Delgado to Florida.

However, there are rumblings filtering out of the Dominican that Sosa understands now returning to Chicago could be uncomfortable. So he is getting increasingly interested in Baltimore, for reasons that start with Miguel Tejada.

The O's have the advantage here in that, they can afford to pay sosa. The only way he'd come here is if the CUbs pay most or all of his salary. But you know what, if Angelos wants to add another bat to his team, thats his perogative. You'd think he;d get a pitcher one of these years.
