Sammy Sosa
Interested - Mets, Nationals, Orioles
Jan. 27 - After losing out on free-agent first baseman Carlos Delgado, the Orioles are discussing the option of making a trade for Cubs right fielder Sammy Sosa, The Washington Post reports.
"You never know," a team source told The Post. "It's still something that's ongoing. We've had discussions."
According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, it's still unlikely the Mets will trade for Sosa. Mets ownership has told GM Omar Minaya to hold off on a Sosa deal after losing Delgado to Florida.
However, there are rumblings filtering out of the Dominican that Sosa understands now returning to Chicago could be uncomfortable. So he is getting increasingly interested in Baltimore, for reasons that start with Miguel Tejada.
