Jan. 21 - If Mike Cameron changes his mind about playing right field – or if the Mets decide to move his salary in the hopes of signing free agent first baseman Carlos Delgado – both the A's and Diamondbacks remain interested, the East Valley Tribune reports.
While Oakland might be interested in Cameron, GM Billy Beane was quick to blast a Bay-area report that said the A's had proposed a trade to the Mets that would send Eric Byrnes to New York for Cameron, MLB.com reports.
"It's absolute fiction," Beane told MLB.com. "There is not an ounce of truth to that story whatsoever."
Cameron, who is owed $14 million over the next two years, is expected to miss the start of the season after having offseason surgery to repair a torn tendon in his left wrist.
