INTERESTED - Mets, Marlins, Orlioles, Rangers

Jan. 20 - The Mets and Marlins are major players, the Rangers hope to become one and the Orioles are fading from the picture. Carlos Delgado and his agent David Sloane will meet with the Mets on Thursday and the Rangers on Friday. The Orioles' front office, according to The Washington Post, has not been able to persuade owner Peter Angelos to increase the team's initial bid, a below-market offer of $25 million over three years.

Sloane, who missed the first meeting with the Mets, has asked teams for a five-year deal, for around $15 million a season, The New York Times reports. The Marlins have a three-year, $35 million offer on the table, according to The Miami Herald. Delgado might command an annual salary somewhere between $12.8 million (Adrian Beltre) and $17 million (Carlos Beltran).
