Jan. 19 - The Red Sox agreed to a one-year contract with right-hander Bronson Arroyo on Tuesday, avoiding salary arbitration. Arroyo will make $1.85 million in 2005 after earning $332,500 last season.
In his first full major-league season, Arroyo went 10-9 with a 4.03 ERA. According to The Boston Globe, the Red Sox scored only 22 runs in the right-hander's eight losses as a starter.
Arroyo recently finished recording a CD in Los Angeles with veteran session musicians Kenny Aronoff, Leland Sklar and Michael Landau.
