Esteban Loaiza, a free agent, agreed to terms with the Nationals last night on a one-year, $2.9 million deal that includes incentives. The Nationals moved closer to signing veteran reliever Antonio Osuna to a major league contract.

I havent seen the details on the osuna signing, but i have to say it had better be cheap. Osuna has been inconsistant for the past2 seasons

these are two good signings - while Osuna isn't too valuable, he adds expirience to the young bullpen. Loaiza could be our #2 or 3 starter, depending on how the other pitchers do and how his spring looks. Either way, they both filled up some large holes.

The Nats got both of these guys by overpaying a bit. There were other clubs interested, but unwilling to jump this early with the kind of cash the Washington team was willing to lay out.

Not bad pick-ups. For a team that needs to add some experienced talent in order to get by for the next couple of years, these are the type of moves that GM Bowden will have to continue to make.

our pitching staff looks decent now with these two pick-ups. Now, if they'd just stay HEALTHY, then we have a decent season.
