Well, here we are and we're on the brink of losing the entire NHL season. It's about time that the NHLPA gives in and concedes defeat to the owners. They are fighting a losing battle and are losing more and more ground by the day. There is absolutely NO way that the owners will end the lockout without cost certainty. I don't know if the players won't give in because they're are too proud and stubborn or because they actually believe that they can win this (they couldn't be that stupid, could they??????).
This is a battle of millionaires vs. billionaires and the owners can afford to wait his out alot longer then the players can. Hell, with most teams actually saving money during the lockout do players really believe that the owners are in a rush to get back?
The players are starting to show some chinks in their armour. Mike Modano's comments the other day have proved that. You just have to wonder if they'll give in before the season is cancelled (lets hope so).
The best thing for the NHLPA to do would be to swallow their pride and have Goodenow agree to give Bettman cost certainty in return for other concessions that would be beneficial to the players. Hopefully the NHLPA will figure this out before its too late and it costs the fans this season.
