I don't know about Edgar, is he worth 12mil a year? no, is he worth 10mil? i don't think he is worth what Rolen/Pujols is worth.

But we know if he hits FA the redsox will offer 12mil and I hope the cards are smart enough NOT to try to match it.

Counting on Haren or Ankiel to start next season in a rotation anywhere, let alone on the major league club, is not a good idea. Haren should be ticketed for the pen as he has shown once again that he can't start all year without wearing down and losing it down the stretch, and Ankiel still has far too much to prove, even aside from worries about endurance.

Sign another decent pitcher along the lines of Suppan and invest in picking up the best starter on the market that we can afford. This team lacks an ace, and it would be nice to have one next year. Then, if one of our walking wounded minor league pitchers comes through, it's a nice surprise, rather than it being a devestating loss if they don't.
