View Full Version : Needs
with only 6 million to work with what can the Nats do to improve?
Rumor has it that they are hot on Odalis Perez but it appears a longshot. And have also expressed interest in Joe Kenedy, and Urbina. I think Kennedy is still under contract.
To be honest I haven't really looked into it. Obviously there are a lot of needs, but they do have some decent players (Nick Johnson if he could stay healthy, Brad Wilkerson, Guillen if he can stay out of trouble, Livan Hernandez, Ohka).
I don't mind the Guzman signing except I think they might have given him too much money. I think he can be a decent player though.
Castillo, well they gave him too much money AND he is probably going to suck, so that's not so good.
the vinny signing didnt make sense to me. I like Guzman, 3 years ago i pegged him as a future star, maybe the change of scenery will help.
Nick Johnson if healthy will be a great player. But it looks like a log jam at 1st: Nick Johnson, Brad Wilkerson, and newly signed Wil Cordero.
Wilkerson played mainly in the OF prior to last year when he split his time evenly between 1B and OF and that was probably only because Johnson was hurt.
So it really only comes down to Johnson and Cordero at 1B.

don't you guys need a stadium?
Or has that been settled?
Legislation for a new stadium was approved by the DC City Counsil yesterday.

see i thought that too. but hes burried on the OF depth chart and is on the top of the 1st base depth chart. OFs right now listed as T Sledge, E Chaves, J Guillen. But i guess a lot can change between now and then. Its obvious that pitching is where the most need is.

Yea, like calm said, that was fixed yesterday, but we do still need an owner.
I think since Wilkerson can play all 3 OF positions and 1B that you can just rotate him around and still work him into the majority of the games.
It would be nice to allow him to settle into one position though.

If he's going to flourish like expected, it may be nessesary

I just need some collateral to get a loan. Hmmm. I'll just put up the team as collateral. Plus my car. Then they'll get the team and my car if i default. I don't see how i can't get the loan.
Did this team wait too long, or was it a bad offseason for starting pitchers? With all or post of the positions settled, there are still too many question marks in the rotation.
I think the problem is that the pithers' prices were significantly inflated this off-season and without an owner the Nats couldn't keep up. Once average pitchers like Benson and Wright signed the deals that they did it sent things spinning.
It looks like they may have another year of having a 1-3 starter but platooning 4-5.

Many of the players on the FA market are OVERRATED. With that said, I would make a trade for Mike Cameron. Word is he wants out of NYC.

Cameron won't be able to play until May. He's probably a luxury that this team should take a pass on.
