I just heard on foxxsports.com that the trade is lee, who is a free agent at the end of next year i believe, for scott podsednik (sp), a great leadoff man who stole 70 babses last year, luis vizcaino a relief pitcher, and a infamous player to be name later.
Seems pretty good, considering we need a leadoff man and we probabaly wouldnt have signed lee after next year.
So what u guys think?

IMO Pods is prolly gonna be a .260/.335/.400/.735 player... SBs mean jack shit if he doesn't get on base at better than a 33.5% clip...
And thanks for Lee. We'll definitely love him here!

I dont know...I kind of liked Pods.....maybe it was because we had so little to look forward to recently....LOL a stolen base was reason to celebrate
Anyway Dons right he dont get on often enough, if you can figure out a way to walk him as often as say Bonds...it could be a geart move for you

Yea, I'm not sure about this anymore. All the moves KW has made from David Wells to this one... I used to like the way he was a go getter. Now I just don't think he's too smart.

Mariotti has fodder for a few weeks now thanks to this. D'oh. Today's article stunk...yet again.
Carlos Lee was worth the 16 Mill over 2 years...I'm pissed upon sleeping on this. Grar.

I don't think this all that bad of a trade. This team needed a leadoff hitter in the worst way, this team also needed a true base stealer. Lee will certainly be missed but this team still has plenty of power (Konerko, Thomas, Everett, Dye, Rowand).
However, I think the Sox still could have gotten more in return. I'm hoping this player to be named is a fairly high prospect in the Brewers system to even this trade up.

A "player to be named later" necessary to "even up" the trade.

the player will be a scrub. We just got Lee you got Podsednik and Viz that is two good players for one. The crew would not agree to give a high prospect also.

hmmm i always considered posednick a much better all around player when compared to lee...did scott's production drop?...or did his salary demands rise above his value...this trade doesn't make sense to me

His numbers droped but that might be to too the dreaded Sop. slump. No he is still very cheap its just the crew has a guy Kryznel in AAA they wanted to bring up this year to play CF so they moved Pods while his value was at its highest.

for once idiots on 670 the score got it right. We are giving up lee... getting a leadoff guy, a setup guy with great stuff, and the extra lee money freed up will go to getting a good SP. In essence we'll be getting a CF, RP, and a SP for carlos lee...
If pods can hit .275 and get obp of .340-350... ill be happy with this one
This team wasnt winning anything and was inconsistent on offense with the old core of players.. something ahd to be done to change that. Hopefully the offense is more balanced now. The OF is most definitly better defensively.

Pods hit a whopping .244 this year, with a .313 OBP.
I don't know that those are numbers that I'd want from a leadoff hitter.
If he doesn't bounce back to rookie form, the Sox are taking it in the brown eye on this one.

Plus Vizcaino can be very frustrating. Yes, he has good stuff and can be dominating but when he is off, he is OFF. Plus he gives up alot of dingers.

ESPECIALLY when he pitches on consecutive days.
And isn't a setup guy supposed to be pitching on consecutive days...?
I think your GM got had. I hope he's not drinking Ed Wade's Kool Aid...

carlos lee is a good player... but he is streaky, and a liability in the outfield (i.e. has no range)... you are overestimating his abilities. I do think pods is the wild card... if he reutrns to rookie form, the white sox benefit more from this trade.... if he really is a .244 313 obp career minor leaguer... then obviously the deal is better for brew crew. The sox scouts must think podsednik can return to form or else the deal wouldnt have been made. You brewer fans ignore the fact that the money freed up from c-lees contract will be used in aquiring another good SP for the white sox...
