3/26: The New York Jets signed tight end Bubba Franks not to bring in a new starter, but to mentor emerging incumbent Chris Baker, according to USA Today (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/jets/home.htm). Franks, who played in only eight games last season with Green Bay because of a torn knee ligament that didn't require surgery, caught a career-low 18 passes last season. He should be a reliable back-up and possible red zone threat in the Big Apple.
