The Atlanta Falcons (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=atl) have reached an agreement in principle with the Oakland Raiders (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=oak) to trade cornerback DeAngelo Hall (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6767) for the Raiders' second-round pick in the 2008 draft, pending the Raiders finalizing a contract with Hall, according to a source close to the Falcons.

Hall is close to agreeing to a contract with the Raiders that will pay him just below what Asante Samuel (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6456) signed with the Eagles (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=phi), according to the source. Samuel signed a six-year deal worth a reported $57 million, with $20 million guaranteed.
Hall is a former first-rounder taken with the eighth pick in the 2004 draft.

Now, that's a good move right there.

They've made a few that left me scratching my head, but now they have Asomugha, Hall, Routt, Washington, and a fews others at CB.

That's solid.

Very, very good.

Now they have to do quite a bit of work on that d-line, and maybe add another LBer.

The o-line needs help as well, and they could use one more high end WR too.

I'd work on the d-line and o-line first though.

yea they only have 1 pick in the first 3 rounds though so they need to figure something out.

yea they only have 1 pick in the first 3 rounds though so they need to figure something out.Well, they could move down a bit, and still address their needs, while gaining a pick or two.

Moving down would probably net a 2nd round pick (minimum).

I can't imagine them having a lot of cap space after their signings and extending Hall too.

rumor is that they might trade the first to detriot for roy williams and detriots first at 15 and another pick i think, id be down for that or trade with the cowboys and get 2 first rounders....I think the raiders can be pretty damn good next year.

They'd have to add more to the pot.

yea thats true, anyways i like this offseason so far and i think they will trade out for more picks....maybe trade down to get back into the second and 3rd....

yea thats true, anyways i like this offseason so far and i think they will trade out for more picks....maybe trade down to get back into the second and 3rd....It seems pretty logical considering their main issues are on both sides of the line. They don't have to be at 4 to address that unless Jake Long falls in their laps.

There are a number of DEs, DTs, and OTs that they could draft later in the first round, while gaining valuable picks along the way.

I don't think they'll be "pretty damn good" this year though b/c they have too many glaring holes in the trenches.

I do think they could be a very improved team, and one that is a pain for people to play. I still think regardless of their draft, they will be one more year away and make the playoffs in 2009.

I know this probably sounds rather homerish, but considering the Packers situation, I wonder if Ted Thompson doesn't make a bid to move up and take someone he might want to get who has absolutely no chance of falling to the end of the first round.

The Packers have depth at most positions with the exceptions of CB and LB for sure. Perhaps a RB at #4? Would McFadden be considered a reach at #4?

Just a thought, though. No real desires to necessarily see this happen.

Perhaps GB gets #4

Oak gets. #30 and GBs second second round pick.

The #30 and a second don't even begin to scratch the surface.

Then how does it work? It seems as though deals have been mad for far less in the past.

That has a TON of value.

Its just a tool, but you basically have to add up all your picks until you have enough points to reach the #4 pick.

That gives you a rough idea of what it would take to make it happen.

If the Raiders move down, they won't move down 26 picks just to grab a late second rounder.

What if somebody were to throw in a good dietitian?

Would that be enough?
