With the Bobcats waiving House today:
House is averaging 11.1 points and shooting .414 from three-point range. A source close to the situation said House was waived because the Bobcats are going to acquire Kareem Rush from the Los Angeles Lakers for a second-round pick.

If true that is a great trade by the Bobcats. They pick up a very quality player for only a 2nd round pick, which rarely turn into anything.

Here's another article:
Bobcats waive House, might trade for Lakers' Rush
The Charlotte Bobcats unexpectedly waived reserve shooting guard Eddie House late Saturday, a move that one informed source said could soon make Los Angeles Lakers guard Kareem Rush a Bobcat.
The source said the Bobcats and Lakers are discussing a trade of Rush for one or more future second-round picks. A 6-foot-6 swingman, Rush has fallen out of favor with the Lakers this season, averaging 6.5 minutes and just under a point per game.
Rush makes about $1.17 million this season on a Lakers salary cap of $61 million. This would lighten the Lakers payroll slightly, and team owner Jerry Buss has always shied away from the possibility of paying luxury tax. The Bobcats are about $6 million under the salary cap, so they have plenty of room to absorb Rush' money, in the last guaranteed season on his contract.
Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff initially said House had an "excused absence" from Saturday's game against the Knicks. Later, the Bobcats issued a press release saying House had been waived. House played well in Charlotte, averaging 11.1 points.
House's contract, which the Bobcats acquired from the Clippers, is worth about $825,000 this season.

I think it's a deal that works out for both teams. The Bobcats need a young SG who has playoff experience and shown that he can shoot the ball. Lakers need a roster spot and Rush wasn't getting that many minutes with Kobe playing 43 minutes a game.
We can now use the extra roster spot to pick up Malone or another player like Bobbitt. I really like the trade. Also, in the second article, it says the Lakers are negotiating with the Bobcats to get more than one second rounder. If we can get anymore, it'll be an extra bonus.

I would think that it would take more than one 2nd rounder to get him. He's shown he can shoot the ball really well at times, and given the opportunity to play and actually hone his game he could be a very solid player. But it is a good trade for both teams, especially if the Lakers can get a couple of 2nds.

The only question I have about the second rounder is that the Clippers got a second rounder for Ely. I wonder what the conditions are for the second rounders the Lakers will get. I'm guessing that since the Clippers got their trade in first, the Lakers' second rounder would be good the following year. Wonder if anyone can confirm this.

Tomjanovich said he wants to experiment with using 6-7 Caron Butler as a post-up shooting guard. The coach replaced Bryant at the position with Butler in the second quarter Friday, a game in which Butler scored a season-high 27 points and played 38 minutes.
"I just really think the kid is growing as a player, and it's just really inspiring to see his improvement," Tomjanovich said.

I like Rush, who will turn into a hotshot. I prefer to see him stay. Why is house being waived?

House is a decent player in his own right. Was scoring 11 points a game for the Cats. Hopefully he finds a spot somewhere.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it last night.. Rush for only a 2nd rounder... he's gonna be a Dwayne Wade (in style not production) type of player... he has a lot of potential and he is going to be great on Charlotte... O the Super Star that team needs... cause we all know the D super star is Emeka...

I like Rush -- I just think he needs a lot of time to get in the flow and with Kobe already there and Caron much farther along in his development (and more athletic I might add), he wasn't going to crack the lineup much. He has the potential to do some things in the right system -- I wish him luck.
