This is funny alot of people wanted to get rid of AZ but know that we are down to 5 WR'S. ( don't know WTF Mooch is thinking)

Yeah let's trade a AZ when we are now that we only have 5 WR'S.
Now If we did trade for him i would trade 2nd round pick and thats it.
If you did't know B Walker is out of the year he was put on I.R.

Question 1: Why did Mooch cut both Swinton AND Kircus? I can understand one or the other, but both?
Question 2: With Walker gone for the year, Holt will start, but is there a possibility that Cash could move between safety and CB like New England has been known to do with their DB's?

I want to move Holt over but knowing Mooch it might happen but i would not get my hopes up.
Cash to Safety hmmmm that might work.
Yeah me two i don't get why Mooch cut both Swinton and Kircus.

Oh, yeah, and question 3:
Is Jason Gildon a possible FA pickup now that the Bills jettisoned him? You know, since our LB depth consists of a fifth round pick, Donte' Cury, and the waterboy?

you dont want Gildon if he could not make a bad team like the bills it proves that he is proably done.

You might wanna re-check the Bills defense. They are far better than you think if you think they are "bad"

Darius would be a great pick up...for the right price. We haven't had a safety that could tackle in years. And i think Darius and Jauron go way back so he knows the system.
Better yet if we could unload Hakim's salary on them. Not sure what his cap number is now, but he probably still has 2-3 mill on his signing bonus.

Say what you want, but if we give Hakim and a 2nd rounder for Darius, we will have made out like bandits!!!!
Bly, Darius, Marion, and Bryant would absolutly be one of the top 3 defensive backfields in the league.
I would do that in a heartbeat! especially since Hakim will prolly be gone next year.

Didnt buffalo have the #2 Defense in the league last year????
I could have swore they said that during the Lions/Bills preseason game.

I'm evidently in the minority. I still think Hakim can be very effective in the slot. Lat year we didn't have enough quolity in the WR department, but with our new additions, Hakim could be dangerous again, like he was with the Rams.

Well, I certainly cant argue with any of those points Markie Mark.
I do like our depth, and I do think hakim could be dangerous again....
I just like the idea of haveing a top 3 D-backfield more.

Yes sir, I heard the same thing during the telecast of the bills/lions game. What could it hurt if the lions did pick gildon as a backup.
Darius...wow! That would be an awesome pickup for this defense. Someone that will make receiver nervous.

picking up Darius would not only help our secondary but more important would help our pass rush, to me this is why the Lions are considering this trade. there isnt any good DE's on the market right now but if we could get a saftey to buy time for our pass rush it might actully make them appear average. Plus Hakim and 2nd rounder for one of the better young safties in the league its a no brainer to me.
I agree with you Slob 100%. Trade or no trade Az is valuable to us this year. I like the trade idea better though :).
damn this is way better than that chit that ESPN has. Thanks Slobber for the hook up
I hope that this donovan darius trade goes through. Give them AZ if you must, but he could be deadly in our new offense. I would rather give up streets

pistonswilrepeat05 was his name on Espn before that i don't know.
went by the same name. Man, for like the past month, everytime I went on the espn board, my computer would freeze up and say not responding for like 10 minutes. It's nice to be able to move around freely and not get so mad.

You do know that if A Mod Deletes a theards you lose post on this board but I Think only way I delete a theard is someone happens to be stupid enough post something really bad and no one should view it.
god- explain to me the thread post thing and all. What does Farve mean when he says that you posts can drop by 300 or whatever? Does that go along with the whole "Promising Prospect, Starter" thing in the sense that you can be demoted kinda like in the pros? If that's what it's like, that's pretty cool.

that what he meant ( if you posted on that theard you lose how many post on it).Like me i was damn near 600 and now i'am down to 300.
Ok now the "Promising Prospect, Starter" thing is all this is how much you post the more you post it will change that tells other posters you have been here a long time thats all. Only way you drop is if you lose post counts when a Mod Deletes a theard is the only way you can lose posts.

Not exactly.
Gildon is a 3-4 linebacker whose entire game is the edge rush. He's too slow to cover in space, which makes him a poor fit for a 4-3 team like the Lions.
He has seen his production fall off significantly in the past couple years, but I think he could still help a 3-4 team like Cincinnati or Baltimore.

Question 1: Why did Mooch cut both Swinton AND Kircus? I can understand one or the other, but both?
He did it because he had to keep nine guys on both lines. Joyce's injury meant that Hopson had to stay to cover center/guard. Redding and Edwards haven't practiced in a couple week, so we needed to keep both Pritchett and Bell. If everyone was healthy, you can bet that at least one of those guys would have been included in the cuts and Swinton would have been kept.
Problem is, I think Swinton will catch on with someone else. If he doesn't - and if Eddie gives us his annual injury - I'd bet he'd be back on the roster in a few weeks.
Question 2: With Walker gone for the year, Holt will start, but is there a possibility that Cash could move between safety and CB like New England has been known to do with their DB's?
Probably not. We've all talked about that on these boards, but I have never seen in any indication from the Lions brass that they view Cash as a potential safety. Hell, they're not even going to start Holt - who should start, IMO - with Brian Walker's injury. Bracey probably starts.
Now, as to this Darius rumor, I just don't think it'll happen. His price tag will be awfully high, and a stopgap one-year starter off the waiver wire might be a good option to get us through the season (Kwamie Lassiter?).
I saw some intersting names out there like Upshaw and d. smith and Gildon. I know that they are all pretty much past their primes, but I think that they could help out if only to give a rest to some of the starters. I'm particularly interested in Upshaw. Any word on him???
