Lions put Brian Walker on injured reserve and cut the following guys:
Avon Cobourne
David Kircus
Reggie Swinton
Andrew Battle
Michael Young
Stephen Trejo

Gotta say I'm surprised about Swinton over Drummond. And Owens over Trejo. And Joyce must be banged up, because they kept Hopson.
However, this means Chris Kern and Marcus Bell make the team, which is good news.

WTF Mooch who is the 6th WR than?
Owens over Trejo did surprised me to and I knew Bell would make the team.
Also now that B Walker is out and they won't move Holt over make a trade or find a new SS cuz Bracy is not that good.

Wow, both Swinton and Kircus. Didn't see that coming...
I think they're hoping they can get Kircus on PS. But I know GB fans were talking about Swinton.

The strange thing is we are one injury away from using Drummond in a 4 man set now.

Packers if smart will proably put a claim on Swinton.

Seems strange that with Drummond and Streets' injury histories that Mooch would only keep five active WR's.
BTW, Watching the UNLV-Tennessee game and Jamal Brimmer (S, UNLV) looks really good.
Well I guess i can forget about Cobourne. MAn that is rough. Thought we could have gotten a trade at least with him. He'll be signed soon I would think.

Corbourne will probably be picked up but he didnt really offer anything to the Lions they have Jones and Pinner to get the majority of the carries and they have Bryson whos experienced and knows how to find holes for a decent backup. The cutting of Kirkus kinda supirses me more then the Swinton one Kirkus seemed to add alot of muscle along with that hes got great hands and plays the game of football the right way a WR should, catch the ball with your hands and away from your body and block downfield. Swinton was a luxery the Lions couldnt afford even if Drummond gets hurt we have Hakim(unless he is traded) Bly and also people like Bryson can do KR and Streets could always do PR are they ideal positions for these guys no but shoot its worth the risk to keep the extra lineman imo.

If memory serves me right, (which sometimes it does), Kirkus had a chance last year to jump ship but opted to stay with the Lions. Mooch seems to have a nice relationship with the kid. They may have a plan already in place whereas Kircus signs to stay on the PS until he is needed. If anything, its wishful thinking on my part.

I don't see any opportunity right now for Kircus or Cobourne to make an active roster, which is probably the only way we lose them off our practice squad.
I mean, there might be a team out there willing to put Kircus in as a #5 or #6 WR, but on the 53-man roster? That's a huge stretch for the guy. Jarrose is right - I remember last year that Kircus could have gone to another team's PS, but opted to stay in Detroit.
I think the chances are really good that both guys get re-signed today to the practice squad.
