Well another year of less than the best for Skins fans. I know Coach Gibbs has been away from the game for over ten years but I have to say this season some of his offseason moves are coming back to bite this team in the ass this offseason. Number one he pursues Mark Brunell an aging 34 year old QB with depleted arm strength and gives him a deal who would not have come even close to had he become a FA. You alientate your starter from last year in Ramsey who I still believe can be a decent NFL QB by bringing him in. We are stuck with Brunells cap figure for five stinking years and for what a guy that gave us ten starts and was the worst rated QB in the NFL during that period. You have a PRO Bowl back in Clinton Portis but he can not run the counter trey like John Riggins or even Timmy Smith for that matter, you need to get him outide the takles and run cut back isolation plays in which he cuts back against the design of the play in order to make him the playmaking back he is. This offseason we also need to look for a playmaker to go along with COLES and WR as Gardner is best suited to a number three or four. Cooley makes a decent H-Back and the defense has been one of the best in the league all year long. Gibbs was a swred customer when picking up aging veterans his first go around with the skins, Wilber Marshall, Jason Buck, Ernest Byner with the exception of Marshall these guys were not stars they fit into his system and hence we had a Super Bowl Caliber team year in and year out. Daniel Snyder needs to understand you can not buy a Super Bowl Victory, Lets look at all the mistakes he has made since he become owner of the Redskins, Deion Sanders was brought in and played one season, Bruce Smith who is a Hall of Famer came in and gave us one great season his first with the skins after that we kept him around to pursue the sack record for gods sake. Mark Brunell enough said, Jermiah Trotter, Steve Spurrier, the list goes on and on. We need to build this team through the draft by selecting Mike Williams WR USC with our first round selection and maybe see if we can get a guy like Brees to come here, but be wary since he has had only one good season and we need to unload Brunell aka release him. This offseason will tell the tale if Gibbs learned his lesson or if we have more of the same next year.
