Wow...

Athletics non-tendered RHP Kiko Calero and RHP Jose Garcia.

Garcia was designated for assignment last week. As cheap as they've been so far this winter, it might be that the A's are working with a reduced budget. With Jason Kendall and Esteban Loaiza gone, they should have money to spend. However, they've been in on no notable free agents to date and now they're pinching pennies here by not spending the $1.5 million-$1.8 million it'd take to see if Calero can bounce back from an off year. The 32-year-old posted ERAs of 3.23 in 2005 and 3.41 in 2006 before slipping to 5.75 with his shoulder troubling him last year. He'll have several suitors

Think we need him? I mean I'd take him but the bullpen is pretty stacked. Especially if Josh Kinney comes back ok.

Oh well. As a Tigers fan, I would've loved to have had him.

His numbers are outstanding.

He was a VERY good reliever when he was with the Cardinals. The Tigers could definitely use some bullpen help...that's about all they need though haha.

For sure, that always seems to be the case. Stay healthy and you win. Look at the Rams this year...different sport I know but same premise.
