Great pitcher.
Wasn't he previously a Relief pitcher? I keep thinking he setup for everyday eddie.

Excellent... It's looking more and more likely that Santana wins the AL Cy Young award.

He was more of a middle relief guy, brought games to the 7th and 8th for Latroy and J.C. Romero, but yeah, he was in the bullpen for a couple years.

dude, unless Schilling goes 5-0 (which might happen), Santana's going to win the cy young.
in that case, wouldn't it be the second straight year a lefty wins the cy young?

Actually, I think Santana's only real competition for the Cy Young would be Mark Mulder, since voters have a tendency to look only at wins and not stats that are directly related to the pitcher, like ERA, Ks, etc.

There's that link.
I actually think Schilling (16 wins now) will be some serious competition...especially if Boston overtakes New York...biased East Coast voters and all.

Possibly, but if Schilling leads the bosox past the yankees and into the playoffs, don't you think he would get more consideration?

Ahh... You guys have a point there. I drew a blank when thinking of Schilling's win total.
That being said, I still believe Santana is the most deserving candidate.

Definately...it'll be a crime (barring some bizarre meltdown) if he doesn't win it, he doesn't have near the offense that Boston has and dominates Schilling in just about every category other then wins.

I'm still a little worried about a coastal bias, but if Santana keeps pitching the way he has, it would be a traveshamockery to give it to anyone else.
