LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Kings (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=los) agreed to a two-year contract extension with center Derek Armstrong (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=1029) on Wednesday.


Terms of the deal were not announced.


He has nine goals, a career-high 30 assists and 50 penalty minutes in 54 games this season. Armstrong leads the team with a plus-16 rating, and has six points in his last five games.


Last season, Armstrong set career highs in assists (28) and points (41).

The Kings acquired him from the New York Rangers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=nyr) for a sixth-round draft pick in the 2003 NHL draft. Armstrong has also played for the Ottawa Senators (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=ott) and New York Islanders (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=nyi).
