Al Davis is just incompetent

actually i'd say davis was smart to realize this was going nowhere fast...

i found this funny from the article:

When Shell was hired to replace Norv Turner last February, he vowed to return the Raiders to their glory days. Instead, Oakland had the league's worst record and set franchise marks for losses and fewest points scored.

They need to start over from scratch. Get rid of Jerry Porter, Randy Moss, Lamont Jordon, Aaron Brooks and Draft a QB, IMO.

They are building something on defense.

They need a lot of work on offense.

This would be my short list of coaching candidates:

Mike Martz
Norm Chow
Kirk Lafrentz

However, don't be surprised if Al brings in Dennis Green.

I sure hope not.

You knew it was bad when Shell brought in Tom Walsh, who hadn't coached in 13 years to be his offensive cordinator that things wern't going to work out.

He never adapted to the new NFL style and players, and lost a number of key players in the locker room.

Promote Rob Ryan to Head Coach...the Players all love him and would work for him....Bring in his brother at DC....I bet his brother would come be the DC and talk over where Rob left it...and Bring in a good OC and have Rob Ryan just over look everything..I think that be good

What I find funny is that someone from the NFL Network was reporting this before the season was over, and the Raiders (Davis) released a statement just blasting the guy saying that Shell wasn't going to be fired and that the guy just makes up stuff.

Adam Schefter. He'll probably have a 30 min special segment on total access tonight discussing this very topic.

I think this "firing" is slightly different this time b/c I believe Shell will work for the Raiders in some capacity now, but it still appears to be a blatant lie.

That's what scares me about the timeline.

He was talking to Dennis Green a few years ago, and he's available again.

I'd rather have the other guys I mentioned earlier.

Don't underestimate Chow either.

The last 4 young QBs he's worked with:

Vince Young
Matt Leinart
Carson Palmer
Phillip Rivers

I really hopes he stays with the Titans. Young is still pretty raw for an NFL QB. If he can get down what its like to be an NFL QB, he will be unstoppable.
