<A target=_blank name=370329>Raiders | Considering draft options with No. 1 pick
Tue, 2 Jan 2007 14:42:29 -0800
ESPN's John Clayton (http://www.kffl.com/link/125) reports the Oakland Raiders (http://www.kffl.com/team/28/nfl), who have the first overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft (http://www.kffl.com/link/159), may not take Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn (http://www.kffl.com/player/13456/nfl). The team may opt to try and trade down in the draft instead.

No shock to me here.
Some people on the Lions board were happy the Lions didn't get the number 1 b/c they felt the Raiders would take Quinn, and they didn't want him.
I felt all along that there was a good chance the Raiders wouldn't take him.

we could trade with the browns and get there first and maybe like kellen winslow? or someone else from them to help with some holes on our team and still have a good first pick

If they are able to swing a deal, and they deal Moss and Porter, they are going to have a bunch of 1st day picks.
It is possible that Porter ONLY fetches a 4th or 5th now though b/c of his attitude and checkered production.
Moss is a major headache, but he'll still command at least one high pick, and probably a second day pick as well.

I doubt they'd move Winslow. He's their best receiver.

3rd or 4th depends on a coin flip

3rd or 4th depends on a coin flipIn that case, they probably could get their first and second rounder this year, and maybe even their second next year.
I'm not sure I'd want ANY player from the Browns, but if Winslow were available, I'd have to consider it.
I guess they soured on Charlie Frye awfully fast.

theres also apparently rumors that the falcons want to trade for the pick so they can get calvin johnson and they would give up schaub there first this year a second next year and a 3rd the year after...thats what I got off the espn message board

Dealing the number 1 isn't as easy as you think, but it does infact happen.
Should be interesting.
I wouldn't mind pulling a Tomlinson/Brees type of deal that SD did with Atlanta, giving up their pick (Vick).

I hope the Lions get him, so Hawk can get his hands all over another member of the family.

Raiders should draft Joe Thomas. Its possible, but they already have a nice chunk of change invested in Robert Gallery.
However, if they deal Moss and Porter, along with the increasing salary cap, its not out of the realm of possibility.

Idk if you can completely blame gallery for his bad play because the rest of the line blows. But he does look like he cant block anyone at times, however the raiders shouldnt of drafted him as high as they did a few years back. And Joe Thomas is a beast he got a third place heisman vote.

gallery was just well coached in Iowa and probably a product of the system rather then a beast of player....

Thats what i was saying the Raiders drafted him way too high. Joe Thomas looks rediculous though.
